PTL that Grace had a check up today with the pediatric cardiologist to follow up on the heart murmur she diagnosed at 18 months. I actually assumed that she would have out grown the "innocent" murmur but she still has it. very musical I was told. but as it goes away when Grace moves in different positions it further puts it in a category of not to worry. Grace was amazing at the visit (and having one child was pretty easy I must say! :)The doctor exam included at 50 minute echo cardiogram--basically a guy doing a Doppler/ultrasound on her chest and around for almost an hour! They were also checking out something else they heard that turned out to be fine and not there. As well as what they were looking for, they check all the parts and functions of the heart. Pretty amazing. Anyway, it just struck me how easy it is to get good health care here (this is not a political email! :) And also how quickly a "bad" report could change your world. Give your kids and grand kids an extra hug and a kiss for all that has gone right.
The only other thing with her has been that she has dislocated her elbow three times. Last time a few days ago, she was less than thrilled (read-- was screaming) at the idea of mommy trying to get it back in after seeing it done twice by the doc and so off to the dc we scrambled--her injury was timed almost perfect at 4:59 but alas they had already switched over to the answering service! But luckily I go to a small practice and my guy was on call and doing paper work at the office. I think I will be able to try it if it happens again--and all indications point that it will probably happen again and there is research that that is a correlation between murmur and dislocating things! Who knew. Something about what in the tissue doesn't allow it to close all the way and thus allow blood to seem back before being pushed out by the next beat,,,,could also give way to twisting limbs! Who knows but it was interesting science lessons!
Otherwise we are all carrying on well here. We are in the middle of adding another bedroom (for Abby, don't get any ideas!) in our third floor walk up. And we will be making another splurge to get ac! Yea--so all you from down south can come to visit us know for no fear of heat stroke! HA. It will be nice when we need it.
