Spring has finally Sprung

I think I can finally put the ski coats and boots away! Although we have had a lot of rain, everything is starting to bloom and get green and when the sun shines it is glorious!

We just returned home from our spring break trip to visit family outside Chicago. Highlights included seeing college friends and letting our kids play together--thank you Jannie and Amy for your hospitality. It was too short as always but a great time to catch up and see the next group of future Wheaties have fun together. We went into the city for the Harry Potter exhibit--all the kids and many adults are huge fans. The kids had fun trying to outsmart the guides in Harry Potter trivia. The week started with a trip to Springfield and the Lincoln house and library. Can you see any additions to the Lincoln family?

We also had a fun time at the Swedish museum in the Andersonville area of Chicago. After a great meal at the Swedish restaurant Tre Kroner we took the kids to the children's section of the museum where the children can act out the story of Swedish immigrants at the turn of last century. Since my relatives came over from Sweden I love this museum and seeing the kids dressed up and doing chores on the "farm"--why don't they love doing chores as much at home?

The kids made several trips to the candy store--also known as the "In Between" Store in my mom's era.

But the highlight was having all my siblings and family there to celebrate my parents 50th wedding anniversary. What a milestone! Before a dinner with relatives we surprised them with a visit "Up the Tower" to ring the bell--a tradition they had done 50 years ago!

Skating

Skating pictures from last springs show--including Abigail's cousins. Abigail was in the middle of the group circle. The dads joined in for the father daughter number--my brother Brad was recruited to skate with a niece. Look for pictures from this year's show that will include the littles Grace and Molly too! This year our two families will have 5 girls total so we need to also recruit a few boy cousins or a brother-- hint!

Our Year in Review

Well we finally replaced our camera so I thought I would put up some pics of the past year or so for those who have not been near us or following our every move! :) Enjoy. Abigail learning to water ski! The boy and girl cousins at their first time at camp. Grace eating an apple she picked.

I hope this is halloween.
